EOC Week 9 : The Apartment

In the movie The Apartment I feel a certain kind of people that make curtain kind of money think that can’t be touched. Sexual Harassment was seen first hand. Slapping someone on the butt. Using an employee’s apartment for personal use is unaceapable. When the person in charge is not leading by example, the people following tend to do as the leader and slack in certain areas. Not Motivating and encouraging others to do better. Talking Bad about the company or others to new hire. Salary should never be brought up. Only with your boss or HR. He say, she say should never be a factor. Defining an employee by stepping on their toes. Sabotage, stereotype, and disrespect should never take place after the proper training. Never back talk your boss. Never say what your going to do if its negative. It’s really unprofessional to bribe or compare yourself to someone else to get the job done. Sexual harassment is never acceptable. There was so much sexual harassment in this movie. It’s never ok for someone to use your body for service. Never sign anything that does not have your name on it. Before using any equipment make sure you have been properly trained. It’s always good to go to school, because a company can always hire outside of the company or someone who has not been with the company long. It does not matter if the potion is for a man or a women. you can still apply. Equal opportunity. Never go to over heard about lies. It’s not worth it. If it doesn't make dollars it doesn't make since. If someone is let go. That is not your business. When you carry yourself a certain way people will judge you. First impression is your best impression. Security should never have to walk you out the building just unprofessional. The workplace has changed so much over the last 20 years. I’ve learned that in today’s work place will walk around on pens and needles. I can remember drinking at a 5 star restaurant with partners on lunch break. Now everything is by the book. I guess a lot of law suits were handed out. Because in todays work place you would be fired on the spot. In the beginning of the class I had to ask myself how this would apply to fashion design. Then I thought to myself. If I plan on having a Fashion Corporation, then I have to have a complete staff.

EOC Week 10: Where Are You Going!

Where do I see myself? I see myself as a Billionaire in the fashion industry. I see the entire world wearing my clothes. I want my corporate headquarter here in America. I want my showroom in Paris, France. I want a restaurant, Hair salon, magazine, perfume, and main store in America. I want to be the first black fashion designer in the world. I cant wait to see all my progress of all my hard work. I want an entire staff of 200 employee’s. I want a fashion campus like Google, Zappos, and Apple. A one stop fashion campus. Hair, nails, fashion, food, and work.   Fashion gives me life. My entire life is about fashion. It’s how I start my day and end it. Fashion controls my life. If I can balance fashion with normal day to day activity’s. I can concur the world.  Fashion has a lot of billionaires none of the are African American. I see myself fighting for what I want. Like Obama, I want to be the first. This has never been done. My culture is forced to design urban clothing. Right know Kanye West is fighting not to be labeled and put in a category, And so will I. Im preparing myself for this. This is something I have to do in order for my designs and my vision to com to life. Im not trying to repeat time or redo what has already been done. Im trying to bring More Class, Extra Class, Over the Top Class shaped with grace, and trend with style. My work should be in a showroom in Paris. On the Runways for Paris Fashion Week. Not in your urban hoods. I want Naomi Campbell to be my Open and Close model. I want Anna Wintour on the front row.

Eoc Week 8 Working 9 to 5

I was executive secretary for 15 years, so everything that was not handle according to training was like clock work. I feel a certain kind of people that make curtain kind of money think that can’t be touched. When the person in charge is not leading by example, the people following tend to do as the leader and slack in certain areas. Not Motivating and encouraging others to do better. Talking Bad about the company or others to new hire. Salary should never be brought up. Only with your boss or HR. He say, she say should never be a factor. EOC Week 7: Profile Statement

I am and strive the first black couture designer in the world. I don't want to be put in an urban box. I don't want to design for just urban clients. I design high end clothes. I want to bring back the leave it to beaver days where housewife's dressed up just to see their loved ones off. When lady's went to the market in high heels!

When little girls were outside playing and jumping around. I was in the house reading vogue with my grandma. I knew what I wanted to be when I was a little girl. At the age of 5 I watched the movie Mahogany starring Dianna Ross. After that movie I knew I wanted to be a Fashion Designer.

All I every liked was clothes growing up. I love to play dress up, make-up, model, anything that has to do with fashion. I knew I was gifted and different. The way I could style as a kid was unblevibable.
I live, breath, and sleep fashion.

Week 2 BOC: Human Resource Management in Action

“Hospitality managers responsible for HR activates at either the unit or company level must understand the importance of employment law to their daily activities and decision making” (Hayes, David K. Human Resources Management in the Hospitality Industry, 1st Edition. Pg. 28. Wiley, 02/2008. Vital Source Bookshelf Online.

“No,” Tara should not allow employees to set their own schedule in her department.
When you are a leader that’s just what you have to do is lead. You must lead by example. Show up to work on time and make sure all your employees are too. If employees could run the operation there would be any need for overhead.

You cannot come and go as you please when an operation takes place. Hotel rooms are like assembly lines. Everything must go in order. Rooms have to be cleaned by a certain time and meals have to be prepared by a certain amount of time.  One little set back can mess everything up. If you’re on the clock at the time your scheduled, then everything is lined up in order for you before you leave. If a room is not cleaned, no hotels guest can accommodate it. The means the hotel loses money. And Profit is down. No company wants to lose customers or employees. It’s just better when you abide by your company handbook.

Week 1 EOC:

Week 1 EOC: Best and Worst Jobs

“This would be a great place to work if only the human resources department was on our side,”

Human Resources Management in the Hospitality Industry; Page 12

Sometimes life doesn’t seem so fair. Especially when the same pattern starts to happen everyday. The workplace can be so overwhelming. Everyone isn’t blessed to work where or how they want to. Some people have to do what they need to do in order to put food on the table.  In that case the environment can sometimes not be of choice. However just because you work in an uncomfortable environment doesn’t mean you have to feel uncomfortable and un ethical.

Sometimes the work place can be a little to relaxing. You can get to comfortable sometimes. I personally can’t work well with my friends, because its more like a party than work. sometimes when people know you to well, they tend to talk or need your attention a lot more than just your co workers. For example I worked with my mom when i was about 19 years old. She expected me to eat with her everyday. She expected me to do everything for her. Whether the project was work related or not. it was just like we were at home. I loved my job and the environment, I just didn't like working for my mom.
